As everyone becomes more obsessed with beauty treatments and how to remain youthful it is no wonder that more and more money is being spent on beauty products. Going overboard on beauty spending can lead to using online or emergency loans to manage your cashflow. Beauty on a budget seems unrealistic at times because we believe that we are missing out if we don't buy what seems to be the "ultimate" product. There seems to always be a new product to buy or a new craze online that we can't wait to try, so we can also be as flawless as possible.

Social media definitely has a significant influence as we are constantly exposed to beauty trends and the latest products that seem to be life changing. It's definitely wise to think outside of the proverbial box and look to other ways in to how we can beautify on a budget. In this guide we have put down some ways to do just that and some solutions that can be found as close as in your own kitchen. Below are some tips and tricks to beauty on a budget.

Drink more water

We know, we know. We hear it all the time but is it really that simple? With water, it is such a vital instrument in how clear your skin appears and how youthful you can look. On average we've all heard from health authorities to drink around eight glasses of water, roughly two litres a day. With our bodies mainly made out of water and with losing water daily through sweat and urine it is very important to replenish and hydrate ourselves.

Drink more water to be healthy

Hydration helps our skin to have more life to it and look younger by maintaining its elasticity. Two litres sounds like a lot but if broken down into 500ml bottles, it doesn't seem like such a hard task. Try it tomorrow. Have 500ml as soon as you wake up and then 500ml every two to three hours. If for example you wake up at 7am, you could have finished two litres by the afternoon and increase it by having more if you can. Drinking water also keeps you alert and more awake so you could be saving on how much coffee you buy also.

Eat more kale

Being very low calorie but high in fibre, kale also contains a high level of vitamin A and K. Funnily enough it does get often compared to oranges because of its high content of vitamins with it also containing vitamin C. Kale contains over 100% of the daily requirement of vitamin A and C for the average person. It also contains iron but the main focus of this guide is beauty, so let's focus on vitamin A and K. If a diet lacks vitamin A, the skin can appear dry and flaky. It plays such an important role of preventing damage caused by free radicals, it simultaneously repairs the tissue that is right underneath your skin. vitamin K plays an important part in helping the appearance of dark circles under tired eyes. You will find vitamin K (or a substance containing vitamin K) listed as an ingredient in many skin care products. So next time you order a salad, why not ask for kale with its rich beautifying qualities as a base, so you can reap the beauty benefits.

Shop for own brands

Are designer products, especially makeup, better in quality than what's available on the high street? The answer can vary. It also varies on the amount of money you can spend. One thing is for sure, you can save a lot of money if you find a duplicate designer product on the high street. The great thing about the brands in the lower price range, is they understand they need to cater to customers who won't necessarily spend a lot of money on makeup. It is consequently true that you can often find similar products at a lower price range. Shop around and sample a high street equivalent of a product and see what suits you best instead of going for the most expensive. With a new product seemingly to be launched every week with mascara alone, it can be overwhelming to know which is the best product and better value for money. Next time you are thinking of buying a beauty product, test similar products with varying price ranges and you may be surprised to find the high street equivalent is actually better quality at a fraction of the price.

Free samples

How many times have you bought something that you ended up not liking? We can save a lot of money and stay within a budget by just trying on a product, leaving the shop and seeing how it gets on with our skin. A more expensive purchase can be buying foundation and with so many new brands, it's so important to find the right one that matches your skin type and skin colour/tone. Take a sample so you can even try it at home, with your own lighting. Maybe you can even trial it on a night out and see it's durability before committing on a purchase that you may regret. With clever lighting in shops that seem to always look flattering, a certain shade of foundation can look amazing but may not be the case outside.

Foods that are good for beauty

Incorporating the right foods needed for beauty can really help you save money in the long run and you are going to be glowing from within. Eating is something we do every day so why not choose the right foods that help us on the inside and help us from not forking out loads of money for the outside. Some foods listed below are ones that you may eat on a daily basis and some are unlikely candidates. Either way, we reckon you will be pleased with how they taste and how they can benefit your beauty regime.

We touched on how we can make an amazing face mask with avocados but they are really versatile in that even eating avocados contains an incredible amount of anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals. Avocados also have the benefit of being anti-ageing and aiding the reduction and prevention of wrinkles. Vitamin B12 plays an integral part for healthy skin, hair and nails. It can reduce inflammation and dryness of the skin. Mackerel also contains omega-3 fatty acids which has powerful benefits for your body as well as your brain.

The great thing about eggs is that they are so readily available and nine times out of ten you have them in your kitchen. Eggs are packed with protein that help firm skin and repair damaged tissue. Eggs are also rich in Lutin, this provide elasticity and hydration to the skin. Eggs can also be used in many masks for the skin and hair. This superfood is not only great for breakfast but can be found in many homemade recipes for beauty treatments. Look out for organic or high welfare eggs.

Walnuts are great for the skin as they delay ageing skin and contain B-vitamins. In skin care products and makeup brands, walnuts are included within their ingredients. This can also be said for hair products such as shampoo. One step further is using walnut oil underneath your eyes to reduce dark circles and ease puffiness. Walnut oil can also be applied to your hair to help it look shiny and nourished. Make sure to invest in a good quality product.

Drink green tea

You have probably noticed that green tea has an abundance of benefits as there are many products that list it as an ingredient. If you don't like drinking green tea, it is even available in a pill form. You can get green tea variations with different fruits and other ingredients just to make a little more palatable. Green tea has even been a focal point and topic of discussion regarding weight loss and its ability to help people do so. Let's look further how it can help with beauty. Green tea has a high level of antioxidants as well as amino acids and B-vitamins. The list goes on as it also contains folate, potassium and magnesium. Green tea can be used in many beauty masks ranging from hair to face.

By drinking green tea, it helps to flush out any toxins that may be collecting on the skin and so it can be seen to heal the skin from any blemishes and drastically improve the skin's elasticity. Green tea can also be used as a mask when mixed with popular ingredients such as honey and lemon juice. Mix the contents of a green tea bag with lemon and honey and let it sit on your face for at least ten minutes before rinsing.

Green tea also contains vitamin K which as previously discussed helps to make dark circles under your eyes appear lighter. Next time you drink some green tea save the teabag and refrigerate it. Have at least two in the fridge for at least half an hour. Once chilled, place them on your closed eyelids and relax for at least twenty minutes. Try to do this twice daily. Take before and after pictures to see if a difference has been made and then continue until you reach the desired effect.

Another benefit that can really help you save money, is the anti-ageing benefits of green tea. The polyphenols in green tea can help with preventing the cause of skin damage, fine lines and wrinkles by neutralising harmful free radicals. Good to know when some of the most expensive products are anti-ageing ones with some products claiming to reverse the signs of ageing. Claiming something false or exaggerating a claim does not engender trust. We ensure that we advertise responsibly.
