Customers’ satisfaction is music to our ears

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

It’s not the first time we’ve heard here at 247Moneybox.com about how good our service is, and we’re doing everything possible to make sure it won’t be the last! A great example is a call we took last week that we simply had to write about.

We got a call from a piano salesman to thank us for helping him in an emergency when he ran out of out of diesel on the way to Birmingham from London for a delivery. Left stranded at a service station, and with no cash to boot, he used our text message service to control his account with us and apply for a re-loan.

Within a few minutes of receiving the text, the funds had left our account and were winging their way to our friendly piano salesman. By opting for the express service, the entire application and funding had all been completed by the time he’d finished his coffee and bacon roll!

‘Delighted’ was an understatement  he was so appreciative that he has promised us a discount on a piano! It’s a shame we haven’t got the space for that, or anyone above a grade 2 in the office to play it!

Holidaymakers need better protection, but not from the sun

Friday, June 26th, 2009

The summer is prime holiday time for 40 million of us Brits. Now there have been calls for the Government to look into the regulations covering holidays, according to BBC News. The Trading Standards authority have outlined that not only do package holidays coverage need to be reviewed but also that of holidays of any person going abroad, where regulation has been deemed to be outdated.

The outdated regulation has been levelled at the lack of ATOL protected holidays. ATOL protects against the travel agent going bankrupt and leaving passengers stranded. However, obviously in the current climate this is increasingly becoming an important aspect of any holiday making abroad. Vivid examples of this include XL which went down and led to thousands of people putting in claims for cancelled holidays.

Less than half of holidays are ATOL protected now, compared to 98% ten years ago. This is due to the increase of computer-customised holidays that mix elements of different holiday packages and subsequently aren’t fully ATOL protected.

Suggestions for rule changes include a blanket protection for all flights booked with scheduled airlines and protection for flights sold alongside another component, such as accommodation.

If you’re hoping to travel abroad this summer but may have to wait too long for your next paycheque, visit us at www.247Moneybox.com and see if we can help out with a payday loan.

Credit card companies cut spending limits without warning

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Interesting article in the The Guardian today regarding some of the UK’s biggest credit card companies, who are slashing credit limits for some of their account holders without warning.

Last year, internet bank Egg angered customers when it suspended 161,000 cards - with only 35 days’ notice, effectively cutting off all use of credit for these borrowers. According to Egg, it wanted to reduce its exposure to people with poor credit records, however it transpired that many angered card holders said they could see no reason for their plastic to be cancelled.

Nevertheless, other financial institutions have since followed suit.

Crazy behaviour like this is only going to continue as the recession bites and banks react in what will inevitably be a knee-jerk fashion. Getting a loan is even more important at times like this and so it should be easier not harder. We here at www.247Moneybox.com provide fast, efficient, short-term loans with a minimum of fuss because we know speed and convenience count.

The article goes on to quote Observer Cash reader James Gardner, who was recently caught out by Barclaycard’s credit-cutting policy. ‘I had just repaid £1,500 of my Christmas spending and was trying to pay a £275 vet’s bill when my card was declined,’ he says. ‘I rang Barclaycard, who said my limit had been reduced from £2,000 to £260. No warning, nothing.’

Another Observer Cash reader, Della Parrish, had her credit limit cut without warning by First Direct. ‘After I retired, I set up a First Direct bank account and credit card to keep my newly set up consultancy activities separate from my pension, which goes into my NatWest bank account,’ she says. ‘The limit on the First Direct credit card was £6,900, but this has just been reduced to £3,100 without prior notice. First Direct said it was because I had not spent up to the £6,900 limit.’

What’s even more worrying in our opinion is that according to Apacs, the credit card companies’ trade association, a code of best practice on reductions to customers’ credit limits doesn’t exist. The article quotes Jemma Smith, a spokeswoman for Apacs: ‘Limits may be reduced for reasons relating to an individual’s behaviour, such as frequent withdrawals of cash or spending over the limit. Or it may be - particularly in current times - because a company has taken a policy decision to decrease its exposure across a group of customers.’
