This story is literally “the bomb”.
A group of farmers in eastern China have been left dumbfounded at the scene of watermelons exploding one by one. The BBC reports that farms were losing acres - yes, acres - of fruit and are stumped in trying to decipher this conundrum. Chinese state TV has blamed the incident on the farmers over-spraying their crops with a chemical growth promoter to try to market their fruits before the peak season, but this hasn’t explained why chemical-free watermelons were also victims of this strange event.
Although approved for use, as tests have shown that chemical is safe in small doses, this has raised general public concern with regard to the health implications. Killer cucumbers and now exploding fruit…we had better check the 247Moneybox.com office fruit bowl!
