Around 300 nude bicyclists rode through the Peruvian capital Lima to draw attention to health and safety conditions.
Though amusing, there is a serious point to be made, as official statistics show that 2,830 people died in traffic accidents in Peru in 2011. Speaking in a report in The Telegraph, event organiser Octavio Zegarra said the protesters took to their bicycles nude on Saturday to show that ”this is our body. With this we go out in the streets. We don’t have a car to protect us.”
Mr Zegarra asked others to “please respect us”.
Glad it was nice and warm for them - wouldn’t fancy that protest in the depths of a British spring or indeed a summer!
